PENNY WARS: The Results are in!

So this summer we had our second annual penny wars.  Just for your information - we pit the boys versus the girls.  All pennies collected are worth 1 point and all silver coins or green cash or negative 1 point for every penny value.  So a $1 bill is worth -100 points in the opponents bucket.

Last year the boys won!  As the winners they got to select the mission or ministry that we gave the money to last fall.  In 2015 we collected $225 and donated it to Men as Peacemakers - an organization in the Twin Ports area that fights against human trafficking.

Here are the 2016 results:
Girls collected $35.18 worth of pennies.
Girls gave $93.10 worth of silver coins to the boys bucket.
Girls gave $165.00 worth of cash and checks to the boys bucket.

Boys collected $31.01 worth of pennies.
Boys gave $98.40 worth of silver coins to the girls bucket.
Boys gave $120.00 worth of cash and checks to the girls bucket.

Total cash collected: $542.69!!!!
Girls Points: -18,322
Boys Points: -22,709

The GIRLS WON!  Congrats to the girls and great job to EVERYONE who played a part in raising more than twice what we collected last year!

The girls chose to give all the money to Shawn and Carolina Sislo - missionaries to Mexico.  Shawn visited our youth group on August 3rd of this summer (pictured above) and shared about the journey his family is on.  Shawn has been the youth pastor for the last several years at Central Assembly of God Church in Superior.  We have had many events and activities with their youth group over the years.  Shawn and his family are heading to Mexico in January to begin their mission of equipping leaders and planting churches.  Way to go Shawn!  Remember to also pray for Shawn and his family!
