Throwback Thursday v. 8 - what?

In continuing our theme of old youth group photos for Throwback Thursday, here is a classic.  This picture is of Scott Paulson (currently one of our junior high youth leaders) with Shane McCotter (a former student in our youth group).  It is from the 2009 retreat at Storybook Lodge.

Scott and Shane were dressed up as cheerleaders for the Fluffy Noodle basketball game.  Don't ask any questions, just enjoy.

No school - but we do have youth group

The Superior school district has the rest of this week off.  As you can see above, Grant is pretty happy about that.  Must have been a long football season.

So NO SCHOOL for most of you.  However, we STILL have youth group this week!

Junior High (6th-8th grades) will be meeting tonight from 6:30pm-7:45pm.  Remember to come at 6:00pm for free dinner.

Senior High (9th-12th grades) will be meeting on Sunday night, November 3, from 6:30pm-8:00pm.

Hope to see you there.  And have a great weekend!

Throwback Thursday v. 7

This classic gem is from December 31, 2009.  Or maybe it was January 1, 2010.  Either way it was almost 4 years ago!  This was our New Year's Eve Lock-In party!!!

Erica and Carter were in 8th grade.  Megan, Alex and Grant were in 7th grade.  Katie was in 6th grade!

Oh what fun times!  And just a reminder that we will be having another New Year's Eve Lock-In Party this year.  On December 31st of all days!  More information and sign ups coming soon!

One of my favorite pictures from Ukraine

As many of you know we had a group of 11 students and 11 adults go on a mission trip to Ukraine last summer.  This is a great picture of 10 of the 11 students that were on the trip.  We had a great time and they did a great job serving God in an amazing way.

FYI - we will be sharing a report about our trip on Wednesday, November 6 at 6:30pm if you would like to hear and see how God worked last summer.

Senior High (9th-12th grades) is Sunday.  We start at 6:30pm and go until 8:00pm.

Throwback Thursday v. 6

This treasured classic is dated October 21, 2009.  That's just four years ago.  Only four years ago.  See how much has changed.  This is a picture of our junior high students from that year, so 6th-8th grade.  Now these students are all in 10th-12th grade - our senior high!

James

So far this school year we have been studying the book of James.  We have looked at the first few verses in James chapter 1.  Here's a review of verses 2-8:

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.  And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.  If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.  But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.  For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

So if you have been coming to youth group and studying with us - what are your thoughts on these verses?  What are your questions?  How has this study been for you?  Make a comment on this post and share how you have experienced God's word through studying the book of James.

We will continue our study this week at youth group.  Hope to see you there!
