How full has your summer been?

Many people have said that time flies when you're having fun!  It seems like the last 8 weeks have gone by in an instant.  My summer has been full and busy!

I've certainly missed seeing and hearing from the students of our youth group.  So take a moment and make a comment about what you have been up to this summer.

Hope it is going well.  We are putting together details for upcoming events and when youth group will start back up.  More details coming soon!

Can't wait to see you all again soon.

Plans for June and July

Many of you have busy summers already scheduled.  Some of you have a summer job, some are doing ministry, some have vacations planned.  We also have 13 students going on a summer mission trip to Ukraine.  And several of you are signed up for Wood Lake Bible Camp.  Needless to say, it is already a busy busy summer!

At the same time the deacons and Pastor Mark have given me two months to take a sabbatical from full time church ministry.  A sabbatical is not a vacation, but more of a time to break from the normal schedule to plan and prepare for the future.  I will be taking this time during the months of June and July.

Because of all of that, we will not be having any official youth group activities during June and July.  If for some reason you have a need or issue arise you or your parents can contact the church office at 715-394-6002.  We have 4 youth leaders that will be "on call" during this time in case something should come up.  The church office will have their contact information if you would like to touch base with them.

Our target date for the JR HIGH (6th-8th) fall kickoff is Wednesday, September 11th.  And we are looking at starting SR HIGH (9th-12th) back up on Sunday night, August 18th.  More details coming later.

Check back to the blog in early August for updates and new plans or activities scheduled.  Until then...have a great summer!

Throwback Thursday volume 3

In continuing the fun tradition of old pictures on Thursday, I thought it would be fun to show some old pictures of our youth room.  The three below are from 2008.  Our youth room was revamped in the summer of 2009.

That's right we had some pretty crazy murals going.  And if you look closely at all three you will notice that in the picture above Luke and Ryan are sitting right under where our TV and system is now.

Big changes!

Throwback Thursday - volume 2

After further review - I'm finding that I have a pretty big arsenal of old pictures to keep this Throwback Thursday Theme going!  So here are two more...

So this interesting piece was taken December 4, 2008.  That was 4 and a half years ago!  First notice the fellowship hall carpet!  Then in order from left to right it is Aaron Christner, Tommy Casper, Shawna Roulston, Shelby or Jasmine Johnson (who can tell?), Jaycie Paulson, Megan Tunell and Hunter Tunell.  I think Hunter is my favorite.

This is another classic from December 4, 2008.  In order from left to right it is Tyler Lehikoinen, Philip McCotter, Falyn McCotter, Becca Tunell, Shelby or Jasmine Johnson (it's anyone's guess), Shelby Fulkerson and Erica Mittlestadt.  In this one my favorite is Philip.

Oh so much fun.

Let me know what you think.

Throwback Thursday

I've heard about this Throwback Thursday thing on facebook.  I thought I would give it a try.  Here are some old photos I found in our archives.

This picture is lovely as it shows the date being almost exactly 6 years ago.  Nathan and Hunter Tunell dropping in on a youth event prior to their time in youth group.  If my math is correct Nathan would have been in 2nd grade and Hunter in 4th grade!

And this picture is from our Fall Retreat in 2007, so about 5 and a half years ago.  Falyn McCotter and Becca Tunell were so young - but not too young for the baby swings!  Doing my math again it tells me that Falyn and Becca were in 6th grade!

Hope you all enjoyed this.  Tina, aren't you glad I don't have old pictures of you????
