No youth group tonight - for senior high

Remember due to our fall retreat that is going on this weekend we will NOT be having senior high youth group tonight (Sunday, September 29).

We will back to our normal youth group next Sunday night, October 6, at 6:30pm.

Last day to register for Fall Retreat

Today!  Wednesday, September 25 is the last day to sign up for the fall retreat this weekend.  All 7th-12th graders are welcome to join!

You need to have a permission slip on file at Bayside and $30 turned in by today.

SR HIGH youth group tonight - bring your money for the retreat!

9th-12th graders come on out for Senior High youth group tonight from 6:30pm-8:00pm.

As a reminder it would be good to bring your $30 for the Fall Retreat!  The deadline is Wednesday, September 25.  But bring it tonight if you are planning on coming.

Fall Retreat

This year's fall retreat is for students in 7^th-12^th grade and will be Saturday, September 28^th – Sunday, September 29^th.  

We will be leaving at 9am on Saturday morning and returning by 4-5pm on Sunday afternoon.  The retreat will be held at Assembly Park Camp on Lake Minnesuing, which is about 30 miles south east of Superior.  The cost is $30 per student.  You must have a permission slip on file at Bayside.

We have a guest speaker coming in from the Twin Cities and the worship will be led by a group of people from Bayside.  It is a combined event with 6 other youth groups in the Superior area.  There will be lots of fun activities as usual – but our focus will be on getting the students fired up about their faith as the school year begins.  Lunch and Dinner will be provided on Saturday, breakfast and lunch provided on Sunday.  

The registration deadline to sign up is Wednesday, September 25.  Registration requirements are the permission slip and $30.

Junior High youth group tonight - Wednesday, September 18

6th-8th graders come on out!

We have youth group tonight starting with dinner at 6:00pm.  We will meet from 6:30-7:45.

We will have fun, games, a study of some Bible verses in James and our first quiz of the school year!

Not many words can express the joy I get in seeing this photo.  All I can say is that we all were kids once.

It's a great shot of Hunter, Becca, Jaycie and Megan on December 31, 2008.  Becca would have been a seventh grader and the other three were in sixth grade.

Throwback Thursday is back!

That's right!  This is our fourth version of Throwback Thursday.  Above you can see a nice picture of Alex Heskin, Michael Johnson, Grant Hanson, Tyler Lehikoinen and Jim Lehikoinen.  This is from our New Year's eve lock-in in 2008 celebrating the beginning of 2009.  I believe that would make these 4 boys 6th graders!

First Day of School!

So today is the first day of school!  In some ways it is sad and we loathe the first day of school.  But at the same time it is an exciting time of year!

What is your favorite thing about school starting back up?  Or what is your least favorite thing about school starting back up?  Or maybe you have a story about the first day of school.  Post it in a comment, we'd love to hear.

Most of you know my favorite first day of school story.  I was a freshman in high school, just moved to a new city and it was my first day at a totally new school.  It was a big school too, about 2,000 students.  I knew no one, not one person!  I survived my first three classes but then...lunch!  I walked into the cafeteria where 1,000 students were busily greeting each other and talking about all the fun they had during the summer.  I looked for a seat and found an open spot on the far end of a table where a few girls were sitting.  My hope was to stay out of the way and figured I wouldn't bother them by sitting at the other side of their table.  Unfortunately, as soon as I sat down the girls all stood up, picked their lunch trays up and walked away!  It was the lowest feeling I have ever had!  I don't remember how I survived that day but eventually I made friends and "fit in" to my new school.  But it was the worst first day ever!

I hope you all have a better day today then I did in 1995!
